From Classroom Learner to Child Rights Leader: Devansh’s Journey
Devansh, a Class 10 student, was once quiet and unsure of himself, with little exposure to child rights and protection issues. His journey changed when he joined the Children and Adolescent Group formed by the National Development Foundation (NDF). Through regular sessions and activities, he learned about child rights, child protection, reporting mechanisms, and leadership.
Recognising his potential, the group selected him as President. This role helped him grow into a confident young leader. He began leading awareness campaigns at his school and in his village, encouraging children to speak up, report unsafe situations, and understand the importance of education and safety.
His efforts reflect the principles of UNCRC'schild protection and participation goals and support important child protection laws in India, including the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, the POCSO Act, 2012, and the Right to Education Act, 2009.
Devansh’s journey also contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals, especially SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions). Today, he is a young changemaker, showing how the right guidance and platform can empower adolescents to become strong advocates for child rights.
