NDF conducts Awareness Programme on Child Rights, Child Protection & Substance Abuse at High School Sawni, Rajouri

RAJOURI, Nov 1: The National Development Foundation (NDF) in collaboration with the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) Rajouri and in partnership with UNICEF India organised an impactful Awareness Programme on Child Rights, Child Protection and Substance Abuse at High School Sawni, Rajouri.

The session aimed to educate and empower children, teachers, and community members about the harmful effects of substance abuse and the importance of ensuring every child's safety, rights and well-being. Around 100 participants, including students, teachers, and local residents, actively took part in the awareness drive with great enthusiasm. The programme commenced with a warm welcome and context setting by Ms. Nisha Pandita, Programme Officer, NDF. Mr. Amit Sharma and Mr. Arundeep, Team Members, NDF, were also present on the occasion.

During the interactive session, students also came forward to share their views and reflections expressing how such awareness programmes motivate them to make informed and responsible decisions while spreading the message of a drug-free society among peers.

Mr. Sunny Kumar, Programme Manager, NDF, sensitized the audience about the growing concern of substance abuse among youth and the critical need for community-driven ef forts to combat it. He also highlighted key child protection laws, available government helplines, and the proactive role that schools and teachers can play in guiding children towards safe, healthy, and positive lifestyles.

Mohd. Bashir, Head of Institution, appreciated NDF for initiating such meaningful amd knowledgeful programmes in schools, while Ms. Vandana expressed her gratitude for creating awareness and providing valuable learning oppor runities for students.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Nisha Pandita, who acknowledged the active participation of children, teachers, and community members, and reaffirmed NDF's commitment to continue organizing such awareness initiatives aimed at building a safe informed childhood.
