Meeting of DCPC held in Rajouri

Rajouri May 29: A meeting of District Child Protection Committee Rajouri was held on 29th May 2014 at Conference Hall DC Office Rajouri. Sh. Mubassir Latifi SSP Rajouri/ Vice Chairman DCPC Rajouri, ADC Rajouri, CPO Rajouri, Distt. Social Welfare Officer Rajouri, Asstt. Commissioner Development Rajouri, Principal DIET Rajouri, CDPOs, ZEOs and civil society members attended the meeting. Capacity building was facilitated by National Development Foundation, Save the Children and European Commission. Mr. Parvinder Singh Programme Manager NDF discussed in brief about the child rights and child protection. During the meeting functioning of the committee in reference to the earlier meetings in reference to establish child protection mechanism in the district was reviewed by ADC Rajouri and further directions were issued to Education Deptt., Social Welfare Deptt. Health Deptt. and Labour Deptt. ADC asked the Education Deptt. to formulate committees at Zonal, block and school level with involvement of teachers, community and students so that the child protection issues happening in the district can be highlighted and resolved jointly. Principal DIET Rajouri was asked to establish the monitoring mechanism for these committees and child protection issues particularly in schools. He also asked the Labour Deptt. to activate their functionaries for the monitoring of child labour at different workplaces in Rajouri and come up with a detailed action plan to deal with such children. SSP Rajouri Mubassir Latifi discussed in brief about the various child protection issues in the districts. He asked the participants to jointly work for the welfare of the children as all the participants are directly working with the children. He apprised the participants that the issue of domestic help is getting boost as most of the parents have sent their children for domestic help with their will and they are not concerned about the future of their children that is almost spoiled in such circumstances. He also asked various department for establishing redressal mechanisms within their department and ensure strict action against the person involved in violation of child rights so that it does not happen in future. During the meeting it was also decided that a drug addiction centre for the children and youth of Rajouri district will be started immediately by Police Deptt. in collaboration with Health Deptt. and NDF at District Hospital Rajouri.
