NDF holds awareness camp on Drug Addiction

Rajouri, July 6: National Development Foundation, NDF organized an awareness camp on Drug addiction under targeted intervention programme for Intravenous Drug users in collaboration with J&K State AIDS Prevention and Control Society at Sports Office Rajouri. Dr. Arun Sharma Supdt. Distt. Hospital Rajouri was the main resource person who sensitized the civil society and target group about the IDU (TI) programme. Dr. Sumit Bakshi Programme Manager NDF conducted the stage. Sh. Rajiv Khajuria Chief Functionary NDF in his address appealed the society not to neglect the drug users as they are the part and parcel of the society. He informed that NDF will help the drug users to overcome this problem by supporting them in all possible manners. He turned drug addiction as a social problem and sought the cooperation of civil society in resolving the same. Sh. Mubassir Latifi SSP lauded the role of NDF for carrying out the activities of utmost importance in various districts for the last twenty years. He said that Police Deptt. is also planning to start a Drug de-addiction centre at Rajouri. He informed that the centre will be run in close coordination with Health Deptt. and National Development Foundation Rajouri. He sought the help of parents and civil society in monitoring children and youth so that they do not become prey to any sort of addiction. Sh. Danesh Rana DIG Police asked National Development Foundation to organize such awareness meets in different parts of Rajouri and Poonch. He emphasized that these programmes has great importance and civil society, Police and NGOs can fight together the menace of drugs. He also appealed that chemists and other druggists should not sell any drug from their shop without the prescription of doctor and warned if anybody found guilty will be punished under the law.
