Like Billo’s, help send children back to schools

Billo Begum was left with no option to engage her elder children as domestic helpers after her husband Mohd Rafiq was killed by militants in wee hours at Dhok (temporary sheds for cattle rearing) in upper ridges of Pir Panjal Himalayan region. Mother of six children Billo also worked as labourer in fields to feed her children. NDF supported this marginalized family by providing a Jersey Cross cow as livelihood support. She is selling 7 ltr m. ilk daily at the cost of 35 per ltr and getting about Rs. 245 per day which enabled her to fulfill the basic needs of the family and her children were back to school. Billo worked very hard and multiplied her cow into small dairy unit of 4 cows and is now earning well.
